Abstract

This guideline is intended to help nurses in their role of detecting TB cases, providing care, and managing TB treatment. It provides a nursing approach to planning and delivering patient care, aimed at improving access and quality of care throughout the treatment period. It offers a review of TB and multidrug-resistant TB (MDR TB) and the directly observed treatment short-course (DOTS) and DOTS-Plus strategy, as well as guidance on how to adapt TB control information for local program implementation. Also included is an overview of organizational issues that can have an important impact on TB control programs.
