TB Education & Training Resources Website E-Newsletter
October 2006

Greetings!

Welcome to this month's e-newsletter for the TB Education & Training Resources Website (findtbresources.cdc.gov). The purpose of this monthly newsletter is to inform you about the featured Highlight of the Month, additional helpful resources in the database, and other updates to the website.

Highlight of the Month

This month's highlight, XDR-TB-Extensive Drug Resistant TB, is a fact sheet developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Stop TB Partnership as part of an intensified response to prevent and contain XDR-TB. The fact sheet provides the current definition and global evidence on XDR-TB. It also describes the conclusions from an expert consultation meeting recently held in South Africa. In addition, the fact sheet previews the upcoming WHO-hosted Global Task Force on XDR-TB (October 9-10, 2006). For more information on XDR-TB, please visit the WHO Stop TB Department website.
