A Call for Action on the Tuberculosis Elimination Plan for the United States

Greetings!

Welcome to this month's e-newsletter for the Find TB Resources Website (findtbresources.cdc.gov). The purpose of this monthly newsletter is to inform you about the featured Highlight of the Month, additional helpful resources in the database, and other updates to the website.

Highlight of the Month

This month's highlight is A Call for Action on the Tuberculosis Elimination Plan for the United States from Stop TB USA. The purpose of this call for action is to engage policy makers in all levels of government, the public health sector, medical practitioners, professional societies, community-based organizations, and voluntary organizations in the effort to eliminate tuberculosis (TB) in the United States. This report assesses how and why the Institute of Medicine's 2000 TB elimination plan has not been fully implemented. The report provides updated action plans for new tools development and for populations who are US-born, foreign-born, or living in areas with low TB case rates. These action plans will aid partners and stakeholders in moving forward on Stop TB USA's recommendations for accelerating progress toward TB elimination.
