Mycobacterium bovis (Bovine TB) can still be found in many animals in the United States, including cattle and deer. Approximately 1 million cattle are tested each year for TB. It is possible for some animals to transmit TB to humans.

In 2019, MMWR published a report on bovine TB disease among deer hunters in Michigan. See the CDC TB website for more information about bovine TB.
