The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Division of Tuberculosis Elimination (DTBE), recently released the updated TB 101 For Health Care Workers online course. Originally published in 2012, the 2021 edition contains updated information about the treatment of latent TB infection and TB disease, based on the latest available guidance.

The interactive, web-based course is designed to educate health care workers about basic concepts related to TB prevention and control in the United States. The target audience for the course includes newly hired TB program staff and health care workers in areas related to TB. It is also a great resource for any health care worker to refresh their knowledge of TB.

The course can be accessed from the CDC DTBE website. Continuing Education (CE) credits are also available free of charge for the completion of this course. More information about CE credits can be found on the CDC CE webpage.

The recording of the TB Education and Training Network webinar, Innovative Approaches for the Virtual Training Environment, is now available at the following link.

The webinar was held on October 5 from 2:00-3:15 PM EDT. Participants heard from speakers from the TB Centers of Excellence for Training, Education, and Medical Consultation on lessons learned and tips for holding virtual trainings. Presentation topics included principles of online learning, training production and implementation, facilitator preparation, and learner engagement. The webinar concluded with a question-and-answer session.
